Elatochori lies on the Pieria mountains at an altitude of 780 metres, and the ski resort sits at about 1,450 metres, 8 km further up. That is why the weather on the mountain is often different from Katerini or Thessaloniki: it is cooler in summer, and in winter it can snow.
