One of the most popular waterfalls in Pieria is just a few minutes from Elatochori. The Erato botanical trail takes you through the forest to Sotiris Waterfall, on an easy route that is also suitable for families.

The Erato botanical trail
The trail starts about 4 km from our guesthouse, on the road that climbs to the ski resort. It is an easy route of about 1.7 km with little change in elevation, which is why families with children enjoy it too. You walk through the Pierian forest, where fir, plane and chestnut trees grow.
Sotiris Waterfall
The route ends at Sotiris Waterfall, also known as Sotiris Rema, one of the most popular waterfalls in the area. It is the perfect spot for a short break, photos and a rest before heading back.
Useful tips
- Shoes: wear comfortable shoes with a good grip, as the ground near the water can be slippery
- Water and a snack: bring some with you, especially if you have children
- Spring, summer, autumn: the easiest seasons for hiking
- Winter: there may be snow or ice. Check the weather on our home page and ask us before you set off
